This Florida law, the so-called Stop WOKE Act, would more accurately be named the Stop Free Speech Act. It followed a nationwide trend of censoring protected speech in schools and workplaces. The law bans teaching inclusive concepts or DEI (diversity equity and inclusion) trainings that include primarily race and gender discrimination topics. Employees are also allowed to file discrimination claims against an employer engaging in such training or discussions if it makes any person feel “discomfort.”
